What is majority community

A majority community refers to people who are in a dominant position in a society. To put it simply, majority community represents people who are more in number in a particular society. They generally hold position of authority and power in the society. It is a community whose culture, religion or language is endorsed or followed by a maximum number of people in a country/ society. For instance in India, Hindus represent a majority community.In Sri Lanka, Sinhala community is a majority community.
