What is meant by lateral shoot formation and adventitious shoot formation?

Dear student.

The shoot that develops from axillary buds is known as lateral shoot. Lateral shoot formation takes place in micropropagation.

The shoot that arise from parts such as external tissues other than growing shoot apex or bud is known as adventitious shoot. Example: shoot that arise from callus associated with a wound.
