What is mesophyll cell ?

Your friends have answered correctly. However I would like to explain you with the help of a diagram of cross section of leaf-

Mesophyll cells are the specialized cells present within a leaf, below epidermal layer. As shown in the figure below, mesophyll contains chloroplasts which are the actual sites of photosynthesis.

Mesophyll cells help the plant carry out photosynthesis more efficiently. Mesophyll cells are in the leaves of C4 plants (plants can be divided into three categories according to how it deals with photosynthesis: C4, C3, and CAM).C4 plants are like corn, sugarcane and grass.
Anyway, in C4 plants, carbon dioxide and PEP (an organic compound) are combined to make a 4 carbon sugar. This is done in the mesophyll cell. The 4 Carbon sugar is then transported to another type of cell (bundle sheath cell) where it will carry out the Calvin Cycle (a phase in photosynthesis).

Mesophyll cells are specialized for photosynthesis. These cells in the middle of the leaf contain many chloroplasts, the organelles that perform photosynthesis. As you demonstrate your knowledge of plant cell structure by placing the labels in the appropriate locations, remember that gas exchange (oxygen and carbon dioxide) takes place within the chloroplasts, and the food produced by the chloroplasts must move out of the cells to other parts of the plant.

they are the objects inside a cross-section of a leaf which are loosley packed cells that give the leaf a spongy appearence.

Hello,

The mesophyll cell is a cell in the leaf which contains the 'chlorophyll' and recives the solar energy

The interior of the leaf ,between the upper and lower epidermis, contains veins and a parenchymatous green tissue or chlorenchyma.

The chlorenchyma of leaf is known as mesophyll.

mesophyll is differentiated into upper palisade and lower spongy.

palisade mesophyll cells are rich in discoid chloroplast and is main seat of photosynthesis.
in C4 plants initial fixation of CO2 occurs in mesophyll cells (contains granalate chloroplast) acceptor is an enzyme PEP.
CO2 is again fixed inside the bundle sheath cells(agranalate chloroplast) and acceptor is RuBP corboxylase(calvin cycle)

mesophyll cells are also known as guard cells .

in the diagram of a stomata the two cells are guard cells while the opening is called stoma.

they are very tiny and green in colour.

theyare present in the cells of the leaves.

is located

>The interior of the leaf ,between the upper and lower epidermis, contains veins and a parenchymatous green tissue or chlorenchyma.

>The chlorenchyma of leaf is known as mesophyll.

>mesophyll is differentiated into upper palisade and lower spongy.

>palisade mesophyll cells are rich in discoid chloroplast and is main seat of photosynthesis.
>in C4 plants initial fixation of CO2 occurs in mesophyll cells (contains granalate chloroplast) acceptor is an enzyme PEP.
>CO2 is again fixed inside the bundle sheath cells(agranalate chloroplast) and acceptor is RuBP corboxylase(calvin cycle)

>this avoid conversion of enzyme RuBP corboxylase into RuBP oxygenase due to high temperature and oxygen concentration present in mesophyll.
