NET exam is National Eligibility Test, conducted by UGC-CSIR. It awards junior research fellowship and lecturship to students who clear it.1) Junior research fellowships can be used for your PhD studies. Almost all of the institute in India, who provide facilities for doing PhD to students, accept NET JRF as an admission criteria for PhD admissions. This exam is a bit difficult to crack. Students who have passed MSc or who are in the final year are eligible to give this exam. You have done BSc so you are not eligible for it right now, but you should start preparing now if you wish to clear this exam.2)LS or lectureship should be cleared if you want to be a lecturer. Paper for both JRF and LS is the same.3) NET exam is taken as paper 1 and paper 2, Paper 1 contains multiple choice questions which check your general aptitude and knowledge of your own subject. There is a negative marking scheme for wrong answers so you have to be careful while answering. Paper 2 contains descriptive question- answers. Paper 2 will be checked for only those candidates who clear paper 1.4)NET is conducted in Major Science Subjects, viz., Chemical Sciences; Earth Atmospheric Ocean Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences; Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences
