what is ossicless increase efficiency of transmission of soumd waves to the inner ear ?

Three tiny bones, namely malleus (hammer), incus (anvil), and stapes (stirrup) are present in the order mentioned starting from the tympanic membrane to the oval window which leads to the inner ear.

These three bones can be compared to a compound lever which transmits and amplifies the vibrations of the tympanic membrane to the inner ear. It is thought to produce an amplification by a factor of about three, under optimum conditions. If the ear is exposed to excessively loud noise, muscles of the middle ear constrict the movement of the ear ossicles to safeguard the ear.
