Functional megaspore – Haploid (n)

Female gametophyte – Haploid (n)

Cells of nucellus are somatic cells. Thus diploid number of chromosomes is present. Megaspore mother cell is diploid and divides meiotically to produce haploid megaspores. Gametophytes are reproductive cells thus haploid.
