What is primary and secondary valency in coordination compounds? Please explain conceptually with example

let us consider an eg. [Co(NH3)6]Cl3 in this complex compound the no. of ligands attached to central metal ion are 6 therefore the secondary valency is 6.the no. of counter anions are 3therefore the primary valency is 3

If we consider an another eg. [CoCl2(H2O)4]Cl.2H2O in this complex the no of ligands attached to central metal ion are 6 there fore the secondary valency is 6.The no of counter anions are 1 therefore the primary valency is zero.simply we can say the coordination no. is the secondary valency where as the no counter anions indicates the primary valency
