What is primary function of male reproductive system

Dear student,

Functions of each gland are different-

Seminal vesicle: It secretes a fluid which  mixes with sperm and makes semen.

Prostate gland: It secrets an alkaline fluid which makes a part of seminal fluid.

Cowper's gland: It secrets a salty  liquid during sexual arousal. This liquid provides lubrication of urethra and neutralize the acidic effect of urine.

Testes-

They are located outside the abdominal cavity within a pouch called the scrotum.

The testes produce sperms. But for this they require a temperature, which is 2 – 2.5°C lower than the temperature of the rest of the body. Therefore, they are protected inside the scrotum.

The function of the testes is to produce sperms and a hormone called testosterone, which brings about secondary sex characteristics in boys.

Vas deferens :- Vas deferens is a thin, tube like structures that connects the testes with urethra.
Functions:-
It carries the sperms from the testes to the urethra
It also receives secretion from seminal vesicles & prostate glands in order to increase motility of the sperms and provide them nutrition.

Regards.
