What is reactant?? Explain well in a simple plz....

A substance that takes part in a reaction or undergoes change during a reaction is called reactant.

For example 

2Na + Cl₂ → 2 NaCl

Here Na and Chlorine gas are said to be reactant and the new product which is NaCl in the above reaction is said to be product.
