What is subcordinating clause

Dear Student,

A subordinate clause is a clause that cannot stand alone as a complete sentence. It, simply, complements a sentence’s main clause. It is also known as a dependent clause.

Example: Even though the pasta was covered in cheddar cheese, Rahul refused to eat it. Here,

Even though the pasta was covered in cheddar cheese - Subordinate clause
Rahul refused to eat it - Main clause

Dear Student,

According to certain traditional linguistic theories, a subordinate clause, dependent clause or embedded clause is a clause that provides a sentence element with additional information, but which cannot stand as a sentence.
