What is the anterior horn cell of the spinal cord pls provide explanation

Dear student,

The anterior horn of the spinal cord is also called the anterior grey column or the ventral horn. It is the front column of grey matter in the spinal cord, out of the three grey columns. It contains motor neurons affecting the skeletal muscles. The cell bodies of the alpha motor neurons are present in the anterior horn cell of the spinal cord.
Thus, anterior horn cell of the spinal cord is a somatic motor neuron whose cell body lies in the ventral or the anterior horn of the gray matter of the spinal cord. Its axon passes  through a ventral root and it innervates the skeletal muscle.

Regards.
