what is the cause for allotropy?

Allotropes are nothing but the different arrangement of same elements in different shape or configuration as shown in the figure.
The main causes of this allotropes of same elements is that
1. At different temperature condition pressure and atmospheric condition same elements is stable in different geometry. So a compounds like graphite arrange themselves according to atmospheric condition given rise to form a allotrope of carbon.
2. Ability of elements like carbon to show the property of forming long and cyclic giant structure give rise to allotropes.
