What is the central idea of the poem "No Men Are Foreign" .And what it is exactly telling us?

Dear student,

The central idea or the theme of the poem is universal brotherhood and equality.
James Kirkup’s poem ‘No Men Are Foreign’ speaks of brotherhood and equality. According to the poet, irrespective of the uniform a soldier wears, in spite of the nation they are fighting for; they are the same as the soldiers they are fighting against. The poet believes that the war the soldier's fight actually reflects the war that man fights within himself. Kirkup believes that since all men are actually equal war or battles fought amongst brothers are meaningless. This poem is about unity and understanding the fact that in spite of apparent differences, men actually are born equal.
