What is the central idea of the story?(A letter to God)

Dear Student,

‘A Letter to God’ is based on the theme of faith, greed and appreciation. Lencho, a poor farmer, has immense faith in God. He writes a letter to God after his crops are destroyed. His prayer is for one hundred pesos in order to buy more seeds and support his family. He firmly believes that God would provide him with the required money.

The next theme revolves around greed and appreciation. The man receives the sixty pesos but writes another letter to God asking him to send the other forty pesos. He even goes so far as to claim the post office clerks have stolen the forty pesos. Rather than being appreciative, he is ungrateful.
