what is the character sketch of mr Hiram B. Otis ?

He was a middle-aged American Minister who was determined, rational and a man of practical nature. It is he who bought the Chase from Lord Canterville despite his warning that it was haunted and he should not go in for it. At the begining, like any forward looking modern American, he did not believe in ghosts and spirits but later when he personally encountered the ghost he became indifferent to it. He believed in doing many better things and making money than wasting time in talking about and believing in ghosts and spirits.

Mr Otis' full name was Hiram B. Otis. He was an American Minister. He had 3 sons and a daughter. He was a very bold and practical man. He believed in himself. He wasn't afraid of ghosts rather when he meet the ghost he talked with him confidentially. He bought the Chase from Lord Canterville despite his warning that the Villa was haunted. He offered the ghost the lubricating oil many times so that the door didn't make irritating noises. He was a man with his own beliefs.
