What is the defference between Apomixis and Parthenocarpy?

Parthenocarpy and apomixes both are the form of asexual reproduction in plants. But, both of them differ from each other.

In parthanocarpy their is no fertilisation of the female gamete i.e. egg which results in the production of fruits without seed.

In apomixes seeds are produced. However, apomictic seeds are not the result of fertilization. In case of apomixes, female gametophyte (embryo sac) in ovule is formed without reductional division. Diploid egg is formed in embryo sac which develops into embryo without fertilization. In this way apomictic seeds are produced which involve no meiosis and fertilization. For example: species of Asteraceae. It also includes polyembryony. Thus, apomixis is a form of asexual reproduction mimicking sexual reproduction.
