what is the difference between a  poem, ode, ballad and verse ?​

Poem : ​a piece of writing in which the expression of feelings and ideas is given intensity by particular attention to diction (sometimes involving rhyme), rhythm, and imagery.
Ode :a lyric poem, typically one in the form of an address to a particular subject, written in varied or irregular metre. 
Ballad: a poem or song narrating a story in short stanzas. Traditional ballads are typically of unknown authorship, having been passed on orally from one generation to the next. 
Verse:writing arranged with a metrical rhythm, typically having a rhyme.

an ode is a poem about one specific thing or person. 
a ballad is a short story in the form of a poem
a verse is a synonym to ballad, though not exactly the same. a verse could simply provide deep profound meaning but  a ballad could depict a story with a hidden meaning,
