Dear student,

SIMILARITIES:
  • Ashoka and Shihuangdi were both the emperors of their own empire
  • Both brought in qualities of their society that are still used today
  • Both brought important influential contributions to their empires: Ashoka brought Buddhism to India and Shihuangdi brought standardized measures and unified China and built the great Wall of China
  • Both empires dissolved into chaos as soon as their emperors died
  • New empires rose from the ashes of the two fallen ones

DIFFERENCES   :
  • Ashoka used the concept of Buddhism whereas Qin used the concept of Legalism
  • Qin's reign lasted a short fourteen years while Ashoka's lasted for thirty six years, a bit longer
  • Ashoka's empire changed ruling peoples often, it being constantly conquered, however, Qin's empire just changed successors of the same people
  • Religious texts were burned by Qin, while Ashoka converted to Buddhism.
  • Qin left a way for his empire to be ruled after he died, but Ashoka didn't plan his out so well, as his empire fell to shambles after he passed.
