What is the difference between beside and near

'Beside' means 'at the side of' or 'next to'.
My partner sits beside me in class.
'Near' means 'close', it does not mean 'next to'.
My house is near the market.

Beside is used to describe an object or person that is just next to you . For example -
Shruti is sitting beside me.
Anshika was sitting beside Monika .
Near is used to describe an object that is at a small distance and not besides you for example
Mohit lives near my house .
Mangoes were kept near her .
Now , we cannot say that Mona is sitting near me . Okay ?
