what is the difference between electric discharge and earthing
Electric discharge:
The flow of electric current through a gas is generally termed as electric discharge. However, flow of current through a liquid or a solid resulting in neutralization of accumulated charge is also called electric discharge.
It happens when the charge accumulated is large enough to create an electric field that can ionize the medium and make current flow from high potential to low potential thus discharging the accumulated charge.
Earthing:
Earthing is the proper connection of exposed metal parts of an electrical circuit to the ground. It is accomplished by thick copper wires. Earthing protects the appliances and human beings in case of insulation fail or accidental short circuit. When the live wire touches the earth wire, large current flows through it and causes the fuse to blow off or circuit breaker to trip and thereby protecting the appliance as well as users.
