The value of the digit is in the number, such as units, tens, hundreds, is called place value.The numerals 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 are called digits. It is by using these ten digits; we are generating all the numbers in the set of whole numbers.The example of the numeral for three thousand five hundred and eighty seven, we write 3587.Using the digits together with place value.

 example:

Every digit in a number has a face value and a place value. The example in 3587, the digits are used in 3, 5, 8 and 7. The face values of these digits are respectively 3, 5, 8 and 7 only.

The place they occupy in the number, each digit has a distinct value. In 3587,

The place value of 3 is 3000;

The place value of 5 is 500;

The place value of 8 is 80;

The place value of 7 is 7;
