What is the difference between force and friction?
Force
By definition, force is a physical quantity that tries to change the shape, size or position of an object. Examples of forces are magnetic force, gravitational force etc.
For doing any work, we need to apply force. For example, if we want to walk, we have to exert force on the floor.
Friction
The force which opposes the motion of a body is called frictional force. It may be kinetic friction if the two bodies slip past each other that is if there is relative motion between the bodies and it is called static friction when there is no motion. The frictional force which is required just to displace the body from rest may be termed as static friction.
