What is the difference between Gluconeogenesis and Glycogenolysis?

Dear student,
Please find below the answer:

The breakdown of glycogen into glucose-1-phosphate is called glycogenolysis. It occurs mainly in liver cells.
The generation of glucose from non-carbohydrate carbon substrates like pyruvate, lactate, etc. is known as gluconeogenesis. It occurs in the liver and kidneys.

Hope this clears your doubt.
Regards.
