What is the difference between linear and cross-linked arrangement ?

Hi Tejesh

A thermoplstic material has a linear polymer chain. A thermosetting plastics used cross linked polymer chain.

Molecules in a linear pair can slide over each other. Therefore, thermosetting plastic is flexible. On the other hand thermosetting plastic uses cross linked plastic so they are more rigid.

thermosetting plastic is not flexible

The answer should be

A thermoplastic material has a linear polymer chain. A thermosetting plastics uses cross linked polymer chain.Molecules in a linear pair can slide over each other. Therefore, thermoplastics plastic is flexible. On the other hand thermosetting plastic uses cross linked plastic so they are more rigid.

The cross-linked polymer forms long chains, either branched or linear, that can form covalent bonds between the polymer molecules. Because cross-linked polymers form covalent bonds that are much stronger than the intermolecular forces that attract other polymer chains, the result is a stronger and more stable material
