What is the difference between NaHCO3 and NaCO3 with reason

Dear student,

In NaHCO3 the bicarbonate ion (HCO3-) is linked to sodium ion (Na+) and is called as baking soda. While in Na2CO3 the carbonate ion (CO32-) is linked to sodium ion (Na+) and is called washing soda.

It has the chemical formula Na2CO3. On the other hand, sodium bicarbonate is represented by the formula NaHCO3 and known in layman's term as baking soda. ... Sodium carbonate is a stronger base compound and is diprotic. It can convert into sodium bicarbonate after it reacts to acid
