what is the difference between phase and phase constant
Let me first write the general equation of an SHM (or wave) :) -
x = A sin(wt+d)
The term '(wt+d)' is called phase and 'd' the phase constant.
So, as A(amplitude) is the patthar ki lakeer(I mean constant :P), it is the phase which determines the position(x) of particle or wave. So you can consider phase as the "status" of particle, and this status tells you the position!
Now coming to phase constant. It is taken acc to comfort of solving a problem, means the time you choose t=0.
If you have any confusions ....... tell me
