What is the difference between pons varolii and Corpus callosum on the basis of location and function?

Dear Student,

                  Pons varolii                        Corpus callosum
Location- Pons varolii is part of the brainstem which lies inferior to the midbrain, superior to the medulla oblongata and anterior to the cerebellum. Location- It is located near the center of the brain and is the largest bundle of nerve fibers that connects the left and right cerebral hemispheres, much like a bridge.
Function- It transfers information from forebrain to cerebellum and also has some functions associated with sleep, swallowing, taste, facial expressions, hearing, equilibrium, posture, etc. Function - It connects the left and right sides of the brain allowing for communication between both hemispheres.

Hope this information will clear your doubts about the topic.
