What is the difference between public deposit and debentures?

Both debentures as well as deposits are forms of indebtedness. A debenture is?the acknowledgement of a debt?by the company. It is therefore an instrument evidencing a debt. A deposit on the other hand?is a sum of money that is placed with a company. In both cases, the money that the company receives has to be returned to the debenture holder or the depositor, as the case may be.
