what is the difference between relative and intterogativ pronoun ?

Dear Student,

  • A Relative Pronoun points or refers to the noun going before it.
  1. Example: I have bought the book that I wanted. Here, the pronoun 'that' relates to the noun going before it i.e. to 'the book'. Other examples of relative pronouns are 'which', 'when', 'who' (whom, whose) and 'where'.
  • Interrogative pronouns are used for asking questions. The pronouns 'who', 'what' and 'which' are interrogative pronouns. Example:
  1. Who called you ?
  2. What did you say?
  3. Which is your car?
