What is the difference between solenoid and inductor?

Dear student,

An inductor is an electronic component that gives inductive reactance to a AC circuit and introduces a phase difference of 90
o between the current and potential difference while the solenoid is an artificial magnet which gets magnetized as long as current is passed through its solenoids.

An inductor may or may not have an iron core; there are inductors that have air cores too. Still inductors can be a straight wire also because there is finite inductance of a straight wire as well. But in case of solenoid , it comes with a moveable ferrous core.
