Dear student,
Barbiturates are the class of sedative and sleep-inducing drugs that are derived from barbituric acid. They are depressants that affect the central nervous system, they are used in reducing anxiety and sleep-related problems. They may be addictive.
Eg- Amytal, Butisol
A tranquilizer is a medicinal drug taken to reduce tension or anxiety. Most of them are highly addictive and cause dependence. People can start to lose interest in their life.
Eg- Diazepam, Lorazepam
