What is the difference between trigonal pyramid and trigonal planar. Plz exolain with the help of examples

Dear student

trigonal pyramidal structure has a triangular base and a pyramid on top

In ammonia, four pairs of electrons (three bonding pairs and one non-bonding lone pair) repel each other, giving the molecule its pyramidal shape

Ammonia is triangular pyramidal in shape.

But in BH3, hybridization of B is sp2. As we know that, for sp2 hybridization, shape of the molecule is trigonal planar. So BF3 is trigonal planar in structure.
In the trigonal planar arrangement, there is a central atom, bonded to three other atoms. These three other atoms are arranged like a triangle around the central atom, with bond angle measuring 120o
