What is the difference btw exponent and power ..???

rn

If none then why the chptr's nme is "exponents and powers" ????

The number of times that an item is multiplied by itself is called exponent and is written as a superscript. The exponent is also called the power. It means there is no difference between exponent and power. It's just two different ways to represent the same concept. There are many pairs of two words connected with word AND come together even they have same meaning. For example  " Terrible and Awful". So traditionally, the chapter name is called "exponent and power".

An exponent is the number or variable that indicates the power to which a base number is raised. In the expression
2^4
[2^4 means two raised to the power of 4]
the 2 is the base number, the 4 is the exponent, and 2^4 (which equals 16) is the power of 2 .

Let me give you one more example,

5^3 , here 5 is the base number,3 is the exponent and 125(5 x 5 x 5) is the power of 5

Hope this helps :)

Thumbs up please :)
