Myofibril may be defined as the long and cylindrical organelle found in the striated muscles which run from one end of the cell to another. It is often referred to as the contractile unit of a striated muscle. These are made up of actin and myosin filaments which are organized in the form of repeated subunits along the length of the myofibril.
