what is the essence of life according to the poem the thing of beauty?

Dear student,

The poem 'Keeping Quiet' conveys a very noble message to the readers:
To take a break from the regular activities which keep them busy through out their lives, to take out time from the busy schedules and introspect the life.  The poet says to stop all activities for a certain time.
But through the line, ‘life is what it is about', the poet also clarifies that through ‘being still’ he does not mean total inactivity. He says life means to grow, to work and to be active, and it cannot be stopped ever, but he also says that we must take out time to understand the world around us.
He means that one should be still – not doing the regular activities of life but think in that time. And think about life not about death. Think about the nature which shows what that goes comes back and which is there will go one day. He gives examples of seasons to explain this.
