What is calgon?
Synthesis gas, or syngas, produced from coal gasification, is a mixture of gases, predominantly carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen (H2), along with small amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2).
Calgon is sodium hexametaphosphate (Na6P6O18). It is used to remove permanent hardness(due to Mg2+, Ca2+ ions) of water. It makes complex ion with Mg2+, Ca2+ ions.
