What is the gas which can be oxidised to sulphur

Dear student,

Oxidation means that either the oxygen is added or the hydrogen is removed.
In sulphur there is no oxygen and hence oxygen is not added but the hydrogen ius removed.
That means the reactant has hydrogen.
The hydride of sulphur can be hydrogen sulphide.
Therefore, the answer is hydrogen sulphide.

It could be hydrogen sulphide,H2S.
Oxidising agents like halogens easily oxidise H2s to sulphur...
H2s + cl2=2HCl +S
Sulphur dioxide also acts as an oxidising agent when it reacts with H2s...

From the gases ??ammonia, hydrogen chloride,?hydrogen sulphide, Sulphur dioxide ? select the following: (a) This gas can be oxidized to Sulphur. (b) This gas decolourises potassium permanganate solution. (c) This gas can be obtained by the reaction between copper and concentrated sulphuric acid.
