what is the height at which the value of g is same as depth of R2?

Dear Student,

Please find below the solution to the asked query:

Suppose ρ is the density of earth, and M is the total mass, so we have
M=43πR3
Now the mass for the sphere of radius R2 is
 M'=43πR23=43πR38=M8
So g at the the depth of R2 is
gr/2=M'GR/22=GM/8R2/4=12GMR2
Now suppose the g is same at height h so we have
gh=GM(R+h)2=12GMR22R2=(R+h)2=R2+h2+2Rhh=-2.4R and 0.4R
Sine negative value of h is not possible, the answer is 0.4R.
