What is the importance of polymerisation ?

The linking of smallest monomer unit to form large giant structure is called polymerization. 

Importance:

Monomer such as amino acids is joined together to form a polymer such as enzymes, that performs various metabolic functions in our body.

Polymer polyethylene is prepared by addition polymerization of the monomer ethylene.

Polymer Teflon is prepared by addition polymerization of the monomer tetrafluoroethylene.
