what is the logic of Geography about the populated land

Dear student,

The Geography Lesson, a poem by Zulfikar Ghose, has many underlying meanings. Hope this paragraph would help you understand the lesson. The narrator learns while looking at the earth from a great height is that the earth is 'round'. He wants to say that in spite of the natural boundaries or divisions among men, this world is divided on grounds of drawing political, religious and linguistic boundaries on the face of earth that create everlasting hatred and hostility between various groups. The poet implies that we should realise that if God-made earth is one undivided whole so is humanity in spite of our racial, cultural and ethnic differences. Thus, the question persists in the mind of the poet as to why we still hate or kill each other.
