what is the main difference between solenoid and toroid?

the difference between a solenoid and toroid is that

1)a solenoid is considered as a straight coil of uniform turns per unit length whose length is large as compared to the diameter of the coil

a toroid is a bent solenoid which is in the form of a ring

2)in both the magnetic field is uniform and strong in their core centres,in toroids because of ring shape there is strong magnetic field in the centre of the ring as well

thnks....for giving me such a good explanation

The main difference between solenoid and toroid is that the solenoid is considered as the straight coil and the toroid is the bent solenoid which is having ring or doughnut shape. In toroid due to the ring shape the magnetic field is much stronger than solenoid at its center.

Solenoid is made by the winding up of coil over a conducting rod. While, toroid is nothing but it is the bent form of solenoid. Just imagine a solenoid in a ring form and that is toroid.

The solenoid is a long cylindrical rod with the wire wound throughout the length. The magnetic field is along the axis of the rod. A toroid on the other hand is a long solenoid in the form of circle. The magnetic field of a toroid can be found out by drawing the amperean surface.
Hope this helps.

Solenoid
In the solenoid a hollow insulating cylinder on the surface of which current carrying conductor is wrapped this system work like the magnet is known as solenoid
Toroid
when we fold any current carrying solenoid in the form of circle then it is known as toroid

Dear Student
Solenoid is a cylindrical in shape having n number if turns whereas toroid is also a coil having n number of turns but it has both ends of cylindrical coil joined together. That is if we join both the ends of solenoid then it will give us toroid.

Solenoid is straight coil.
Toroid is a round doughnut shaped coil.

Check out the new book of the universe and see that it is not a great deal to see it in a very long way I think he is the same as a great relationship T but I think it was just the way I thought I was going for the FUT of the same thing as I would like it if you have a lot more to do for a few years.

In solenoid the current is inside . And in in toroid current in on the loop or ring.(neither outside nor inside)

SOLENOID - A cylindrical shaped coil of many tightly wound turns of insulated wire. The diameter of the coil is smaller than its length.
TOROID - A toroid is a hollow circular ring of finite thickness on which a large number of turns of an insulated wire are closely bound. For any point inside the empty space surrounded by toroid as well as outside the toroid, magnetic field B is zero whereas in case of solenoid, magnetic field inside the solenoid is uniform and non uniform in outside. It is not zero.
