 The six objectives of the National Forest Policy of India 1952 were:

(1) The requirement of developing an evenhanded system of land use, that would aid in optimum development and least deterioration.

(2) The need for examine -

•        Vulnerability in the mountainous regions

•        The wearing away along the rivers leading to ravine development,

•        The assault of sea-sands on coastal tracts and the movement of sand dunes,

(3) The necessity for initiating tree lands

(4) The need to guarantee gradually increasing provisions of grazing and small wood for agricultural implements

(5) The call for sustained supply of timber and other forest produce

(6) Realising utmost annual revenue with the fulfilment of the above needs
