what is the meanin of bleeding bark?

The poem is regarding the indiscriminate cutting down of trees. According to the poet, trees have been on this Earth much earlier and longer than humans. So even if a tree is injured its bark grows back. However, humans remained undeterred by this ability of trees and hacked the trees down. This act not only made the trees bleed, but also the Nature herself.
