(ii) 'Dwarf broiler parent' means a parent chicken which is small in size. Because of its small size, it requires less space and food and hence, reduces the cost of production. It is more advantageous in terms of commercial production.
(v) It is one of the desirable trait in poultry that the newer varieties of birds formulated by cross-breeding programmes must be smaller in sizes with the ability to sustain life on cheap, fibrous diets. This fibrous food could be obtained from by-products of agricultural processes like weed removal, threshing etc.
