What is the meaning of "pitch per base pair" and "rise per base pair" in DNA?

Pitch per base pair-The pitch is the distance between the start of one helical axial turn of DNA to its end or we can say it is the length of the complete axial turn of DNA. The pitch equals the number of nucleotides in one turn multiplied by the axial rise.
Rise per base pair-the axial rise is the distance along the helical axis between nucleotides. If all bases were coplanar and the pairs perpendicular to the helix axis, the rise should equal the van der Waals distance of 3.4 Å
