what is the meaning of 'plastered with yellow chalk'in the potrait of the lady.

please answer immediately.i have monthly test coming up

The narrator’s grandmother was a strong willed woman. She not only took care of herself, but also her grandson. She used to get up early in the morning and then prepare her grandson for the school. In the mean time, while bathing the narrator, she used to recite her morning prayers in a dull sing song tone with anticipation that her grandson would learn it too. Then she used to bring his “wooden slate which she had already washed and plastered with yellow chalk”. By this phrase the narrator could have meant either of the two meaning. Firstly, he might have meant that his grandmother used to clean his wooden slate and keep the yellow chalk with it. She used to make everything ready before he left for school. Secondly, he could have meant that due to the over use of the yellow chalk on the wooden slate, it had got tainted with the yellow colour. (All the best for your exam)
