What is the meaning of undercast and overcast?
Dear Student,
Undercast is a type of totalling error when total of any sum is done less whereas actually it was more.
For example: Total of cash book was 50,000 but it is written as 30,000 therefore it means that total of cash boo undercasted by 20,000.
Overcast is also a type of totalling error in which total of a sum is done more whereas it was less.
For Example: Total of pass book was1,00,000 but it was written as 1,50,000 therefore it means that total of pass book was overcasted by 50,000.
Regards.
