What is the meaning of Vacuole

Dear Student,

Vacuoles are membrane-bound structures, which are believed to store  ergastic or non-protoplasmic materials of cells. In plant cells, vacuoles are large in size, while in animal cells vacuoles are small. The liquid present in the vacuole is called sap.
Vacuoles in general are small cavities or empty spaces.
