What is the meaning of

"YE OTIS GHOSTE

Ye Onlie True and Originale Spook,

Beware of Ye limitationes

All others are counterfeite"

In The canterville ghost?

This short poem or limerick was written by the Otis twins to taunt the Ghost further. The poem mentions that the Sir Simon is the actual ghost or scepter, whereas all the others; like the one built by the twins using a broom a cleaver and a hollow turnip, are all imitations. This is also like a warning to the Ghost that twins have now declared war on him! They are now going to plague him further. The poem is written in old English, probably to ensure that the Ghost understood it. The twins had probably assumed that the Ghost belonged to a time period when people spoke in English with similar inflections.
