what is the principle of the formation of shadow
Dear Student,
A shadow is an area which is devoid of light. Any opaque object which does not allow light to pass through them will form a shadow. The happens because of a special property of light i.e "A light ray always travels in a straight line.".
So, when an opaque object is placed around a light source, some part of the light is unable to reach behind the object and a shadow is formed behind the object.
Now the shape and size of the shadow will depend upon the orientation of the object with respect to the screen and light source, the distance between the light source and the object as well as on the distance between the object and the screen (Observer your shadow due to sun on ground at different times of day).
Regards,
